Terms of Service
& Refund Policy
Last updated: July 2026 · Cortex Web, Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas · (469) 506-2647
1. What the service is
Cortex Web ("I", "we") designs, builds, hosts, and maintains custom websites for local businesses on a monthly subscription. The current plans — Starter, Growth, and Complete — and what each includes are described on the pricing section and each plan's page. By subscribing, you agree to these terms.
2. The free preview & delivery timing
- The free preview is a custom homepage concept built for your business — no payment and no card required. It's a design concept to show you the direction; it is not the finished, hosted website.
- Your free preview is delivered within 48 hours of receiving your completed intake form at /start.
- The full build begins after payment. Once you subscribe and your intake form is in, your complete website is built and made live within 48–72 hours. That delivery clock starts when your intake form is received — not at the moment of payment — since the build needs your business details to begin.
- Small revisions are made together until launch feels right, and small updates are included in your plan every month.
3. Billing
- Plans are billed monthly, in advance, through Stripe, starting on the day you subscribe and renewing on the same day each month.
- Your card details are held by Stripe, not by Cortex Web. We never see or store your card number.
- If a plan's price ever changes, you'll be told at least 30 days in advance, and the change only applies from your next billing cycle. No mid-cycle changes, ever.
- If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it keeps failing and we can't reach you, the subscription may be paused until billing is fixed — your site and content are not deleted during a payment hiccup.
4. Cancelling
- There is no contract and no minimum term. You can cancel at any time by phone, text, or email to (469) 506-2647 — no cancellation forms, no exit interviews, no fees.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing month you've already paid for. Your site stays live until then.
- After cancellation, I'll help you retrieve your content and point your domain wherever you're going next — see section 5.
5. What you own — before, during, and after
- Always yours: your domain name, your business content (photos, text you provided, reviews, customer and lead data), and your Google Business Profile. If your domain was registered through me, it is registered in your name and transferred to your control on request at any time, subscribed or not.
- Part of the subscription: the site build itself — design, code, hosting configuration, and the systems that come with your tier (estimator, review engine, missed-call text-back). These run for as long as you're subscribed.
- If you cancel: you take your domain and all your content with you. The site build stops being hosted when your paid period ends. If you want to keep the entire build and host it yourself, we agree a one-time buyout — ask before you cancel and you'll get a written quote.
- Your content is exported and handed over on request within 14 days of cancellation, in ordinary formats (images, text, CSV for leads).
6. Refunds
- You see a free preview of your site before you ever pay — you'll never be charged for work you haven't seen.
- Monthly fees cover the month they're billed for. A month that has already run is not refunded — but cancelling means you're never billed again, effective immediately for future months.
- Billing mistakes are always refunded in full — duplicate charges, charges after cancellation, wrong amounts. Tell me and it's fixed; no forms, no argument.
- If I've materially failed to deliver what your plan includes in a given month, tell me — making that month right (by fixing it or crediting it) is my call to make quickly and generously. I'd rather refund a month than argue about one.
7. Changing plans
Upgrade or downgrade any time by phone, text, or email. Upgrades take effect right away; downgrades take effect at your next billing date, so you never lose time you've paid for. No change fees.
8. Your side of the deal
- Content you give me to publish (photos, logos, text, reviews) must be yours to use.
- The site and included systems are for your business's lawful use.
- I need reasonable cooperation to deliver — access to your domain, Google Business Profile, and the information the site needs.
9. The honest limits
- I aim for your site to be fast and available around the clock, and hosting is built on reputable infrastructure — but no one can promise zero downtime, and I don't.
- SEO and review outcomes depend on your market, your service quality, and Google — I promise the work (and show it), not a specific ranking or rating.
- To the extent the law allows, Cortex Web's total liability for any claim is capped at the fees you paid in the three months before the claim.
10. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes and existing subscribers are notified before anything new applies to them. The version on this page is the one in force.
11. Contact
Questions about any of this — before or after subscribing: call or text (469) 506-2647, or use the intake form. These terms are governed by the laws of Texas.
